AUGUSTUS CLEVELAND BROWN  was born October 23, 1839 in York, New York, the son of Rev.Silas Brown Jr. and Mary Cleveland.  He was educated by his uncle Augustus Cleveland, graduated at Williams College 1861. He studied law at Canandaigua, N. Y., and in the city of New York, where he has since 1864 been a practicing lawyer (1897).

            Previously was a resident of York, Batavia, and Pembroke, N. Y., to 1846, and West Bloomfield, N. Y., to 1864. Author; compiler of the Family Record of Silas Brown, Jr., N. Y., 1879. See Bibliography, Chap. IV.
