Mr. FRANK EDWARD CLEAVELAND graduated from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Bachelor of Laws, March 18, 1873. Residence at Canaan, Conn., to 1870, Ann Arbor to Apr., 1873. After finishing his studies he lost his eyesight.
He was admitted to the bar in Litchfield co., Conn., May, 1873, and commenced the practice of law at Canaan; continued there to 1878; and then located at Winsted, Conn., of the law firm Graves [Henry B.J and Cleaveland to 1881, was Justice of the Peace West Winsted 1877-9.
Since 1881 he has resided and practiced at Hartford, Conn. (1898). Attorney and Counsellor-at-law, publisher of the well-known Cleaveland’s law blanks. Mr. Cleaveland is a highly esteemed member of the bar, and a leader in many public movements. Was a delegate represent-ing the Fourth District of Conn, at the National Greenback Convention, Chicago, Illinois, Mar. 19, 1880. He was an early advocate of the secret ballot in Conn. It has since become the law, and was first used at the town elections Oct. 7. 1889. Is president of the Institution for the Blind, Hartford, 1896.
